The number of students in Kentucky completing degrees and other certifications is on the rise.
The 21st century global economy demands education beyond high school, whether it is a high-skilled certification,
a two-year or four-year degree, or some other type of advanced training. The benefits of some type of postsecondary
education are vast. A few individual benefits include increased income, job growth, better health, and overall
well-being. Societal benefits include a more involved citizenry, a competitive workforce, and increased quality
of life.
The good news is that the number of students in Kentucky completing degrees and other certifications is on
the rise. According to the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, since 2001 Kentucky has increased graduation
of postsecondary programs by approximately 19,956 or by about 68%.

- A diploma is designed to prepare students for employment in a specific field.
- A certificate is primarily offered in technical programs and requires less credit hours than a diploma.
