Texas students are falling behind in math, threatening their ability to thrive in tomorrow’s economy, advocates warn.
The state can only fill high-demand, high-paying jobs in health care, technology and construction with local students if leaders address Texas’ long-standing decline in the subject, they said. Roughly 80% of the state’s fastest-growing occupations are based in science, technology, engineering or math, or STEM, according to Gov. Greg Abbott’s proposed state budget.
