Using Data to Drive Outcomes Work Learning Journey
Overview
We’re often familiar with the challenges our community is facing but don’t know how to start making a measurable, lasting impact. This three-course learning journey will help you identify, understand and track the data that’s needed to make a difference. You’ll learn how to identify data to understand what’s working, gain technical skills in trend-line analysis and explore how to lead data walks to help communities turn insights into strategies.
You should embark on this learning journey if you want to:
- Identify meaningful data
- Apply performance measures
Having our local staff complete this training will help them understand better what data to bring into a data walk, which in turn will deepen their understanding of the importance of data, disaggregation of data, and the connection to root causes.
Courses in this learning journey include:
- Evaluating Impact Using Performance Measures
- Identifying Data for Outcomes Work
- Facilitating Data Walks
What is a learning journey?
Learning journeys are a curated collection of self-paced courses, designed to help you move from understanding to action on key concepts needed to improve outcomes in a community. As you work through the courses, you will gain the fundamental knowledge that will lead you to application and deeper insight. Performance measurement means regularly checking how well things are working and how efficient they are. This gives you trustworthy information about how effective programs are, and positions you to be able to evaluate impact. You will learn what performance measures are and how they can be used to help you understand the impact that your strategies are having towards your overall goals.
2. Identifying Data for Outcomes Work2. Identifying Data for Outcomes Work
One of the first steps when starting work to improve outcomes is to identify the data, qualitative or quantitative, that you will need to understand what is working, what is not working, and what populations are more impacted than others. This self-paced workshop will help you identify the data you will need as you begin to work on an outcome connected to your place-based partnership work.
3. Facilitating Data Walks3. Facilitating Data Walks
Data walks are interactive displays of data and information that lead to productive conversations and decision making. In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of data walks and facilitating meaningful discussions about data. Data walks make information approachable, create space for diverse voices, strengthen trust and generate rich, grounded discussions. Whether you are new to data walks or looking to improve your facilitation skills, this course will help you lead inclusive and effective data walks that support informed decision-making.
